You Can Do More on a Rectangular Trampoline
AUTHOR: Austin Western
While small, mini-trampolines are designed primarily for fitness and exercise, and large, round, backyard trampolines are perfect for outdoor fun and activity, you can expand your trampoline skills by using a rectangular trampoline.
A rectangular trampoline is designed to showcase more than just random bouncing and jumping. It affords the same wonderful health benefits as the other kinds of trampolines, but because of its shape and larger area, it lends itself to a more gymnastic type of activity. You can showcase your flexibility and impress any onlookers while you are gaining control of your muscles and becoming incredibly fit.
There are a couple of considerations that go along with a rectangular trampoline. It’s not appropriate for everyone to use. Small children – those younger than six years old – should not use a rectangular trampoline unless an adult is physically with them on it or giving them very close supervision. Safety must be emphasized for both children and adults who use a trampoline, and as a parent you must be absolutely vigilant so that precautions are always taken to ensure that no serious injuries occur. Even adults can have lapses in judgment, especially if alcohol is present, so be especially aware of safety during parties. Fun can easily end abruptly if someone gets hurt.
So, what kinds of tricks can you do on a rectangular trampoline? You can learn to jump higher and higher, and once you gain the right amount of height, you can practice various ways of landing. You can land on your feet of course, but also you can land on your knees and then bounce from there back to your upright starting position. You can land sitting down and then bounce yourself back up to a standing position.
More advanced users can land on their backs or bellies and then immediately return to their starting position. And you can progress from these maneuvers to doing complicated flips. Can you imagine how you would feel doing a back flip? You might be able to develop the skill to do an entire set of flips!
These more complicated movements take patience and care to develop. No matter what your age, these should be performed correctly and this means being coached properly. And you should always engage someone to be your “spotter” – so that in the event of a mishap, someone is there to help you.
A rectangular trampoline can be a wonderful addition to your family’s activities. Together you can develop firm, fit bodies and enjoy the challenges of jumping, flipping, and bouncing. You’ll develop confidence and balance and a whole new way of enjoying your backyard together!
