Why Choose a Rectangle Trampoline?
AUTHOR: Austin Western
Trampolines, whether they are round, square, or rectangle, are a great source of family fun. Many children just love bouncing and jumping, and many adults find bouncing on a trampoline an enjoyable way to maintain and improve their fitness levels.
But trampolines were invented initially to support the acrobatic industry, and they have been used in gymnastic competition for years. So, while jumping itself is fun and healthful, there are many other uses for a trampoline, and many gymnastic tricks and moves you can learn to do. A rectangle trampoline is particularly suited for this type of activity.
Jumping is, of course, the main movement one does on a rectangle trampoline. But depending on how high a person jumps, there are different ways of landing that definitely fall into the trick category. These are not easily learned, and take time, discipline and care to develop, but it is possible to land on your knees, your stomach or side, and propel yourself back to a standing position. You can do flips – but make sure you don’t attempt any of these things without supervision and someone to “spot” you.
On a rectangle trampoline, small children should never be unsupervised. No one under the age of seven or eight should be allowed on this type of trampoline, unless there is very close supervision. School age children can use rectangle trampolines but again, not without close supervision.
The benefits of using a rectangle trampoline are many, and so if you choose to purchase one for your family, you can expect each member of your family to enjoy the benefits of jumping while having a delightful time. Some of the healthful results include increasing muscle strength, improving coordination and balance, learn height and depth perception, and gaining a sense of confidence and body awareness.
There are a few differences between rectangle trampolines and its round cousins. The rectangular design gives a larger area to jump on. Because the springs are more flexible, you can jump higher on a rectangle trampoline. This makes it ideal for teenagers and those who are involved gymnastics; it is also favored by professional trampoline jumpers.
Depending on the size of the rectangular trampoline you choose, you can expect to pay substantially more than the round versions. Some rectangular models can cost as much as $1800, while a round trampoline can retail for as little as $200. No matter which way you decide to go, make sure you do some research and buy from a well-respected manufacturer. Safety cannot be overemphasized.
Enjoy your rectangle trampoline, and discover the world of healthy jumping. Your whole family will improve their health and have fun doing it.
