The Health Benefits of a Mini Trampoline

AUTHOR: Pieter Bekker

Mini Trampoline
You’ve probably seen the trampoline rising out of lots of backyards in your neighborhood. It seems children everywhere are enjoying the exhilaration of jumping and bouncing. The trampoline has become a great way for a family to play together.

The little mini trampoline, designed for indoor use, is enjoying resurgence in popularity too. Unlike the larger models, the mini trampoline has a diameter of between six and sixteen feet. Many models can be folded in half, or even in quarters, for easy storage when not in use. You can find many different styles and shapes: round is the most popular, but there are rectangular and octagonal models as well. Costs vary, depending on the company and the choice of materials used to construct the trampolines, but even the priciest models are not nearly equal to the price of other exercise equipment – a treadmill for example. And it has to be noted, the mini trampoline is a lot more fun!

You’ll want to do some research to determine which make and model is right for you, but once you make your decision, you’ve opened the door to a new world of healthy activity.

The Mini Trampoline and a Healthier You

You can start off slowly on your new mini trampoline with what is called the “health bounce.” This is just a small movement; your feet aren’t actually leaving the mat at this point. Even this tiny movement though can begin to get your heart rate going and serves as a great warm up to an aerobic session. This health bounce is a great cool-down exercise as well.

You’ll then proceed to just jumping up and down rhythmically. This up and down movement has been proven very beneficial to your lymphatic system, providing lymphatic drainage that can prevent edema and boost your cellular health.

Running in place on your mini trampoline provides the same benefits as running or jogging, but without the shock and impact of those sports. In fact, unlike other forms of exercise, there are virtually no harmful side effects. You will notice your muscles becoming toned and firm, with a noticeable smoothing out of the cellulite deposits all too many of us have on our thighs and hips. You’ll lose weight if you need to, and your balance and coordination will improve too.

There are several exercise videos available for purchase; check the Internet for a variety of sources. While this is not necessary, you might enjoy learning some other ways to move on your mini trampoline.

The mini trampoline is a piece of equipment for all ages. Even the inured or the elderly can use these. If for example, someone is not able to walk, they can still benefit from the mini trampoline if they simply sit on the rebounder while someone else bounces on it.

When you step off the trampoline, you realize that you have indeed gotten quite a workout, but while you are on it, all you feel is the fun and lightness of the activity. Because it is small, you can store it anywhere, even at your office. This is one piece of equipment that you will want to add to your home gym, or use by itself – you’ll never make excuses for not exercising again!
