My Little Round Trampoline
AUTHOR: Ryan Felshaw
I am the proud owner of a brand-new round trampoline. If you had told me that I would be purchasing a trampoline, I would have laughed and thought, No way!
About a year ago, I overheard a conversation between two women who had been to a Tony Robbins event. There they learned that jumping up and down on a “rebounder,” or a round trampoline, had special benefits to your system. Not running in place, not jogging, but bouncing up and down supposedly had a significant effect on the lymphatic system and digestive organs.
Hmmm. This sounded very interesting, and a bit strange. I filed this a way in my brain, and didn’t think about it again for quite some time.
But recently I began to think about the benefits of using a round trampoline for exercise. I have struggled with back pain and sciatica, to the extent that even walking was too painful. For an active person like me, this was a tough pill to swallow, and I was desperate to find a form of cardiovascular exercise that would keep me in shape and not hurt.
So I did some research on my own about the benefits of round trampolines and rebounding. The more I read, the more I began to think that this might be the very solution I was looking for. The next step was choosing a reputable brand, deciding on whether or not I wanted a round trampoline that folded in half or in quarters, and placing my order.
I eagerly awaited the arrival of my round trampoline. And I have not been disappointed. I chose a model that folds in half for easy out-of-the-way storage, and it even came with a nice carrying case for traveling. A video was included with my order that explained how to use my new trampoline, and I was on my way.
I started off slowly, just as recommended. I learned that there is a small movement called the “health bounce” that acts as a warm up and is good for beginners. One’s feet never leave the mat totally, but performing this movement for five to ten minutes is actually the equivalent of a much longer brisk walk.
The great thing about exercising on a round trampoline is that it just doesn’t seem like exercise! Instead, it’s enjoyable and exhilarating in a really light-hearted way. It’s a great way to watch the evening news or catch the latest episode of your favorite TV program.
And the health benefits from using a round trampoline are quite impressive. In addition to cleansing your lymphatic system, you can also expect to lose weight, lower your cholesterol, lower your blood pressure, give your heart and lungs a vigorous workout, improve your balance and posture and coordination, and strengthen and tone all your muscles.
For me, purchasing a round trampoline was one of my best decisions yet!
