Caring for Your Trampoline Pad

AUTHOR: Hubert Rice

Trampoline Pad
Now that you have made the substantial investment in purchasing a trampoline, you will want to make sure that you know how to care for it so that you will get years of good use from it. You will want to familiarize yourself with the key parts of your trampoline and have a basic working knowledge of how to perform simple maintenance on them.

The key parts of your trampoline are the frame, the springs, the mat (the jumping surface of the trampoline) and the trampoline pad. These are the components of your trampoline that will eventually show wear and tear and may need to be fixed or replaced. Usually the manufacturer you purchased your trampoline from will carry the replacement parts you need, and you should also be able to find reliable sources online that can furnish you with replacement parts should you need them.

The Importance of a Good Trampoline Pad

A well-made trampoline pad is actually quite important. These pads are designed to be shock absorbent, and this allows lots of jumping and bouncing without any jarring effects on one’s joints. When you are looking at trampolines, you’ll want to make sure that the trampoline pad is of the highest quality and well constructed; look for a very high-density foam (the closed cell type). Make sure there is a guarantee against mildew; the pad on your trampoline should be water resistant as well. If you sacrifice quality, you will be sorry down the road when your trampoline pad doesn’t hold up well, and needs to be replaced at some additional expense to you. Make sure the trampoline pad you choose has a burst speed that’s around 800 pounds per square inch. You’ll also want to check that the mat is sewn with heavy-duty thread and is attached with galvanized rings in a triangular shape for the longest life possible. The materials should all be UV resistant too.
There should be no gap between the mat and the springs, so make sure the pad on your trampoline is wide enough to cover this area well.

Ready for Fun!

With a well-constructed trampoline, a sturdy, cushiony trampoline pad, and quality springs, you are ready for some exhilarating fun. Your trampoline will provide your whole family with hours of enjoyable activity, and will also improve your health and vitality. You might think it’s just too much fun to really be good for you, but if you use your trampoline regularly, you’ll be amazed at just how much better you’ll look and feel. Your children will reap the same benefits, and they will also increase their confidence and sense of accomplishment while they improve their balance and learn to play well with others.
